Aug 24, 2019 NZEB Tour | CARBSE, CEPT University, Ahmedabad

 
A tour of Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Efficiency (CARBSE) at CEPT University, Ahmedabad was organized on August 24, 2019.

The tour received 35 participants including those from Anant Institute of Architecture, Pidilite Industries, AMRD, Essteam and Ideas. CARBSE is a research lab which is an operational net zero energy building, meeting its energy demand via a roof-top solar power plant.

CARBSE facility with its building orientation, fenestration designs, tilted roof and other active and passive strategies optimises the energy usage and hence, utilizes 86% lesser energy than other institutional buildings in the city . Salient features of the building include roof top solar power systems, hybrid cooling system consisting of radiant cooling and VRF system and building management system with various types of sensors. Majority of the solutions adopted by the building to achieve net zero status are easily available in the market.
