INSPIRE 2019

MAITREE and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) partnered to organize the International Symposium to Promote Innovation & Research in Energy Efficiency (INSPIRE) 2019 on the 11th and 12th of November 2019. INSPIRE is the annual conclave organized by EESL to provide a platform for sharing knowledge and recognizing innovations in energy efficiency technologies. USAID, World Bank, Asian Development Bank and Government of Israel were resource and knowledge partners for INSPIRE 2019. Lawmakers, policy makers and experts, energy sector experts, academicians, entrepreneurs, and students from Indian and abroad attended this event to present breakthroughs and emerging ideas capable of transformative action.

A coffee table book developed by MAITREE highlighting achievements and services of Building Energy Efficiency Program (BEEP) was launched at the event by Mr. Michael Satin, Clean Energy Head (USAID India), Mr. Sanjiv Nandan Sahai, Secretary (Ministry of Power, Government of India), Mr. Saurabh Kumar, (Managing Director, EESL) and Mr. Gurdeep Singh (Chairman & Managing Director, NTPC).

INSPIRE 2019 honoured five pathbreaking innovations in clean energy and energy efficiency. EESL signed an MoU with Axis Bank, one of the three big private sector banks in India, under BEEP to integrate energy efficient technologies in 1300 branches across the country initially, on deemed energy savings based ESCO model. EESL also signed an agreement with Innovative Infocom for implementation of 2MW Natural Gas Engine based Trigeneration Solution at Navi Mumbai, India. 6,100 tonnes of GHG emissions will be averted from this plant. MAITREE conducted the sensitivity and financial feasibility study for trigeneration business potential in India for EESL in 2018.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Michael Satin lauded EESL’s leadership and partnership with USAID in transforming markets for energy efficiency in India. He stressed the need for continued collaboration through MAITREE to provide cutting edge low energy buildings and cooling solutions in India and South Asia.
