Lighting is an essential element of spaces today, with approximately 15 billion lights installed around the world. However, less than 1% of all our global lights currently are connected or intelligent. The emergence of big data, the Internet of Things and connected, digital lighting will bring much more intelligent functionality into lighting systems across workplaces, homes, and cities. Lighting that goes beyond illumination will play an important role in making cities, homes, and workplaces more livable, enjoyable, safer and also more economically sustainable. Lighting in workspaces can have a profound effect on occupant well-being, productivity, and vitality. Effectively lit and attractive environments enhance company reputations, help recruit and retain high-value employees, and increase the total value of the facility.
