NZEB Knowledge Series Webinar – Can affordable housing be energy efficient & green? : Lucknow Development Authority’s success story

In India, buildings account for 35% of India’s overall power consumption and contribute significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. New buildings and developments offer ample opportunities to reduce energy use, and provide superior indoor environmental comfort. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), the primary urban development body under Uttar Pradesh Housing & Urban Planning Department, has adopted a vision for Green & Energy Efficient buildings.

The speakers, Ms. Apurva Chaturvedi, a clean energy professional currently working as Senior Clean Energy Specialist in the Clean Energy and Environment Office in USAID, India, Mr. Indu Shekhar Singh, Chief Engineer at LDA, Mr. Chakresh Jain, Superintending Engineer at LDA and Ar. Gopal N, an architect with specialty in sustainable building design took the attendees through the green and energy efficiency initiatives undertaken by LDA . The webinar also showcases one of LDA’s EWS housing schemes as a case study, which has been successful in implementing measures as outlined in LDA’s vision.
