MAITREE organized an industry roundtable which brought together industry leaders, from US and India such as UL, Hines, HKS and Carrier to share their perspectives on making energy efficiency and green building practices mainstream.

Mr. S P Garnaik, Executive Director EESL released the report on “Building Green: Approach and Insights for Market Transformation”. The report prepared by MAITREE in partnership with USGBC is an outcome of the nationwide survey of owners, developers, manufacturers, and building professionals to glean their understanding of green building practices. The survey assessed the perception of the construction sector about the barriers to building green.

Globally over 260 participated for the event, which included developers, architects, bi-lateral organizations, consulting, energy utility services, educational institutions, and industry manufacturers.  The live event received participation from Latvia, Italy, Sweden, UK, Bhutan, Singapore, Mauritius, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Rwanda, USA, and Canada.

The findings and way-forward received a wide acceptance and the industry leaders concurred that the market for building green is steadily opening-up in India and the South Asia region.
