NZEB Knowledge Series Webinar – Net Zero & Low Carbon by Design: Bayalpata Hospital in Nepal

Bayalpata Hospital in Achham, Nepal is a culturally-appropriate design that leverages local climate and on-site materials to minimize carbon in the construction process and building operation. Built from low-tech construction methods, the complex minimized the cost-prohibitive transportation of building materials in this remote, mountainous region. The grid-hybrid solar hospital generates surplus energy due to the combination of passive design strategies–including natural light and ventilation–and a 100-kilowatt photovoltaic array integrated into the buildings’ south-facing roofs, resulting in an impeccable net-zero design.

This NZEB Knowledge Series webinar hosting Architect and Project Director Tyler Survant, showcases the process and techniques that went into the making of the exemplary project.
